Hey, I've just dropped you an extended thank you note in the comments to your open letter re: Tim Kring, and then it occurred to me that you might actively be avoiding the comments there at that point - can't really blame you if so. My longer comments are over there (and there's a question I'm curious about if you get chance) but if not, I wanted to make sure you got a thanks from me anyway. Totally awesome of you to write that letter. Cheers!

This is really nice. Thank you so much. I was staying away for fear of saying anything rude. I'm glad people care so much, I just want to let them know that sometimes NBC doesn't let us do the storylines we want to do (truth!) and there are some strong opinions about things that are all subjective.

Anyhow, I'm about to go back to the set right now (we're on day 2 of shooting episode 414 that I wrote...) so I'll check out those comments in just a little bit.

    Thanks again!

    Jim

Hey, no problem! As far as I can see, whether or not I always agree with the decisions you all make (and as much as I love the show, I don't always), there's a big team of people working very hard trying to create the best TV they possibly can, presumably under constraints we know nothing about. I think a lot of people forget that. And unfortunately, this being the internet, some of them also forget that they're talking to actual people with feelings, address y'all like you're deliberately trying to upset them or microwave their kitten or something, and just generally appear to be competing to be the living embodiment of The Simpson's Comic Book Guy ("Last night's Itchy & Scratchy was, without a doubt, the worst episode ever. Rest assured I was on the Internet within minutes registering my disgust throughout the world.")

I strongly dislike that entire mindset, and think it's pretty damn neat of so many of you to interact with fans and share stuff with us. And especially under the current circumstances, when I can't imagine any of you feel like dealing with the sort of crap getting flung your way, I think it's important that you know there are a bunch of us out there who do very much appreciate you taking the time to do this kind of thing.

Which was an exceedingly long way of saying: don't let the haters get you down. And the best of luck with your episode -- can't wait to see how it turns out!
